Chief Adept's Message 2009
Fratres of the Rose and Cross wheresoever dispersed,
Once again I am pleased and proud to report that CT College has once again come to the end of another successful year, although our search for Divine Light can never end. A lot has happened in just the three short meetings since our last annual:
Attendance remains high, especially among our newer members whom we look to for their shared experiences and knowledge in advancing our common beliefs and providing us with new perspectives. We look forward to receiving their papers and sharing them with you on-line.
Plans are nearly complete for formation of a second Council of AMD in CT whose synergy would create for us an expanded candidate pool. In the mean time, we've welcomed three more new Fratres into our cadre. Also, having our annual meeting a month earlier than usual has afforded us the special opportunity of more time to mix within our Masonic community before summer and spawn further interest in SRICF.
We cycled through more First Order Degrees for just the second time, with ease and familiarity, led by our Celebrant and Exponent. And it was a distinct pleasure for me to present Fr. Paul Chello and Fr. William Lott with their credentials for advancement to the VIII Degree.
Our web page remains an underutilized resource, but is producing a few inquiries. Among them, and as a result, we were honored last fall with a fraternal visit by Fraters from Rhode Island College led by their Chief Adept Robert Poyton, and a mutual exchange of ideas and programs. It was a great day!
I conclude my message with a personal note derived from our initiation requirement for a Latin phrase. Mine is "Ad Astra per Aspera" …."to the stars through difficulties" which were the first four Latin words I learned the very first minutes of Latin class. Routinely quoted by our teacher, it became an indelible inspiration for me in my life. I trust that your SRICF motto will remain equally vibrant for you.
May our Lord and Savior bless and keep each of you safe as you journey forward in your own path to the stars.
Amen. Amen
Fr. William L. Miller, IX
